BUTTE, Mont.- The No. 17 Montana Tech Oredigger volleyball team rose to the occasion on Saturday afternoon defeating No. 24 Lewis-Clark State in straight sets on Senior Day at Kelvin Sampson Court.
Celebrating the careers of seniors
Sabrina Hopcroft and
Heather Thompson, the Orediggers improved to 9-3 in conference play and 24-6 overall with the 26-24, 25-16, 25-19 victory over the Warriors. With the victory Montana Tech clinched a share of the Frontier Conference regular season championship.
The Orediggers hit for a .173 clip at the net while Lewis-Clark State finished with a .123 mark. Leading the way for the Orediggers was
Maureen Jessop and
Karina Mickelson who each notched 11 kills.
McKenna Kaelber had 29 assists while
Sabrina Hopcroft added 18 digs.
Heather Thompson and
Sydney Parks led the Diggers on defense with 3 blocks apiece.
The Orediggers finished the their home slate on Kelvin Sampson Court with a 9-1 record and were 13-1 playing in Butte. Montana Tech is 38-12 at Kelvin Sampson Court over the last five seasons.
The Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament is Nov. 15-16th in Great Falls, Mont. Tournament matchups will be announced on Nov. 11th.
