BUTTE- Montana Tech lost a back-and-forth battle against Rocky Mountain College in overtime on Friday night on Kelvin Sampson Court, 84-80.
The Orediggers came back from a 14 point halftime deficit to force overtime against Rocky and forced the game into an extra frame when
Taylor England blocked a Battlin' Bear shot in the paint with just seconds remaining. The Diggers trailed Rocky 45-31 at the end of the first half but responded to the challenge and scored the first nine points of the second half to pull back in the game.
The Orediggers received a monster outing once again from sophomore
Taylor England who tallied 22 points and 17 rebounds. England shot 8-for-12 from the floor and added three steals, three assists, and two blocks on the evening. The Diggers also got 17 points from
Troy Owens Jr., 12 points from
Derrius Collins, and 10 points from
Drew Huse. Senior
Carson Dummer added seven points and 10 rebounds.
Rocky featured a pair of 20-point scorers in Clayton Ladine and Craig Wilmore. The Battlin' Bears shot 48.5 percent for the contest while Montana Tech shot 40 percent on the night.
The Diggers dominated the rebounding battle securing 45 boards to Rocky's 33.
The Diggers fall to 6-12 in the Frontier and 16-14 overall while Rocky improves to 10-7 in the Frontier and 19-10 overall.
