DILLON, Mont. –
Sindou Diallo had a career high 35 points pushing the Orediggers to an 88-84 victory over Montana Western.
The game came down to free throws in the final minute with
Drew Huse and Markeith Brown Jr. hitting critical shots from the charity stripe. The Orediggers finished shooting 25 of 37 from the line in the game.
Tech (2-2, Frontier 2-0) stay undefeated in conference action while Western (1-1, Frontier 0-1) dropped their Frontier Conference opener after being off for nearly a month.
The Orediggers trailed 50-41 going into the locker room at the half despite Diallo dropping 17 points.
Brown dnetted 10 of his 17 points in the first frame as the Orediggers shot 42 percent from the field.
The Orediggers finished the game with a 52.7 shooting percentage.
Western worked the three point line hitting 8 of 19 from long in the first half and finished shooting 15 of 36 from long.
Tech erased the Western lead in the second frame when Brown drove the lane with 13:57 left in the half going ahead 63-62. The score remained close down to the wire with Tech briefly holding a four point lead twice.
Diallo finished shooting 12 of 19 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free throw line while adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Brown hit 5 of 10 from the field and 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. He added 2 assists and 2 rebounds.
Derrius Collins,
Bridger Larson, and
Cody Baumstarck all had 7 rebounds helping out under the basket with senior
Taylor England out of the game. Larson finished with 8 points going 3 of 6 from the field. The trio combined for 19 points.
The Orediggers outrebounded the Bulldogs 41-33 without England.
Western's Jamal Stephensen shot 4 of 9 from deep finishing with 20 points to lead the team. Max Clark had 19 points. Mike Haverfield had 17 points.
The Orediggers return to Butte tomorrow night when they host Carroll College.
