HELENA, Mont.- Montana Tech couldn't catch a break against the No. 17 Fighting Saints falling 63-44 at the PE Center on Wednesday night.
The Orediggers (12-11, 2-9 Conf.) couldn't recover from a slow start that saw them fall behind 20-4 midway through the first quarter. The Orediggers trailed the Saints 37-26 at halftime after shooting 35% from the floor.
Montana Tech was led in scoring by
Celestina Faletoi who scored 10 points and received a spark off the bench from
Mollie Peoples who scored 9 points.
Dani Urick and
Kaylee Zard added 8 points apiece,
Mesa Williams scored 5 points, and
Tavia Rooney scored 4. Zard and Rooney each pulled down 8 rebounds for the Diggers.
Carroll College was led in scoring Christine Denny who scored 19 for the Saints who shot 44.6% from the floor in the victory.
Montana Tech travels to Lewiston, Idaho to play Lewis-Clark State on Saturday.
