GREAT FALLS, Mont. – No. 17 Montana Tech took No. 9 Providence to five sets but couldn't close out the match against the league leading Argos.
Montana Tech (17-8, 3-3) dropped their second match of the season to the Argos (19-2, 6-0) 25-11, 18-25, 16-25, 25-21, 10-15.
The Orediggers came out hot in the first set hitting .278 in the first frame. Tech hit negative in the second and third sets before finishing in the positive for the final two frames.
Tech finished hitting .062 in the match. The Argos hit .077.
The Orediggers led the kill category 50-43, but committed 38 hitting errors while the Argos had 28.
Olivia Muir led the Orediggers with 14 kills and
Karina Mickelson had 13.
McKenna Kaelber had 45 assists.
Sarah Hopcroft had 29 digs.
Jenna Thorne led the Argos with 15 kills. Madysen Hoerner added 12.
Montana Tech hosts Carroll College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the HPER Complex.
