BUTTE, Mont. – No. 8 College of Idaho held off the Montana Tech men's basketball team in the final minute as the Orediggers drop their first game of the Montana Tech Fall Classic 62-59.
Camdyn LaRance hit a three-pointer with 2:47 to go to tie the score at 56. But the Yotes hit a layup on the next possession and were able to hold the lead to the buzzer.
Tech led by as many as six early in the first half and Idaho had a four point lead late. The teams went into the locker room at halftime 30-30.
The Orediggers shot 44.8 percent in the first half and finished hitting 41.1 percent from the field. Tech hit just 3 of 14 from beyond the arc.
The Yotes shot 43.9 percent from the field.
Derek Wadsworth led the Yotes with a perfect game hitting 8 of 8 from the field, 4 for 4 from three, and 3 for 3 from the free throw line. Wadsworth finished with 23 points.
Caleb Bellach also had 23 points shooting 10 of 16 from the field and 2 for 4 from long. Bellach also had six rebounds.
Sindou Diallo had 11 points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Taylor England had 10 points and six rebounds.
Derrius Collins had six points and eight boards.
The Orediggers (3-2) finish the Fall Classic tomorrow at 7 p.m. against Oklahoma City.
