CHANDLER, Ariz.- Montana Tech held strong with the No. 2 team in the country but fell 59-51 to Westmont on Wednesday afternoon.
The Orediggers led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter after going 3-for-6 from downtown to start the contest and holding Westmont to just 22.2% shooting from the field.
The Warriors found the rhythm in the second quarter outscoring the Orediggers 20-9 to take a 28-23 halftime lead.
A balanced attack led the Oredigger offense with four players tallying double-digit points led by
Brooke Heggie who had 14 points,
Tavia Rooney who added 11, and
Dani Urick and
Mollie Peoples who each finished with 10 points.
Madison Allen and
Ally Cleverly both added three points.
Stefanie Berberabe led Westmont with 19 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Iyree Jarrett scored 12 points and Laila Saenz added 10.
The Orediggers will return to the court on January 6th when they take on Carroll College in Helena.
