BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech volleyball opened their home slate with a 3-0 sweep of Montana State Northern.
The Orediggers improve to 1-2 on the young season winning 27-25, 25-14, 25-13.
The Skylights took a brief lead in the first set 18-17 and held on until kills from Mckenna Kaelber and
Sydney Parks finished the set 27-25.
The Orediggers finished the first frame with 18 kills hitting .325.
Northern's best set was the first hitting .282 with 14 kills.
The Orediggers turned the heat up in the final two sets while the Skylights struggled at the net. The Skylights hit .000 the rest of the match.
The Orediggers finished with a .330 hitting percentage and outhit the Skylights 45-30.
Karina Mickelson and
Maureen Jessop led the attack with 11 kills each. Mickelson hit .435 with just one error and Jessop hit .346.
Taylor Henley also hit double-digit kills with 10 and finished with just one error hitting .600 in the match.
Kaelber finished with 29 assists.
Hannah Oggerino led the defense with 18 digs.
Rylee Burmester led the Skylights with 13 killing hitting .119 in the match.
Montana Tech host Montana State Northern (1-2) again tomorrow afternoon.
