BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech Head Coach Adam Hiatt announced a new addition to his roster. Caleb Bellach is transferring to Montana Tech from Montana State with three years of eligibility left with the Orediggers.

"It goes without saying that we are ecstatic to have Caleb join our program," said Coach Hiatt. "There is no question that he will be an immediate impact player for us."

The 6-foot-6 guard spent two seasons with the Bobcats averaging 6.7 minutes a game and 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds as a freshman. Bellach saw action in just four games during the 2020-21 season.

Bellach played prep for Class C Manhattan Christian where he led the Eagles to a state championship as a senior. The three-time all-state selection averaged more than 20 points and 6 rebounds a game his junior and senior years and finished as the all-time leading scorer (1,553 points). Bellach was named the MVP of the State C Boy Basketball Tournament and the USA Today's All-USA Montana Boys Basketball Team. Bellach was chosen to play in the Montana-Wyoming All-Star Game.

"At 6-foot-6 and very skilled and athletic, Caleb will present many matchup problems on a nightly basis," said Hiatt. "We have a fantastic collection of players on our roster that are very connected, which was a big selling point to Caleb. He is a seamless fit and we expect him to help us continue our ascension as a program. This is a very great day to be an Oredigger."

Bellach's parents both played basketball for the Orediggers in the 1990s. His dad Jeff went into the Oredigger Hall of Fame in 2020 with the 1997-98 and 1998-99 Tech basketball teams. Jeff was part of the first men's basketball team that reached the NAIA National Tournament.

"I couldn't be more excited to join the Oredigger family and basketball program," said Caleb. "I can't wait to get started with Coach Hiatt, Coach Miller, as well as my new teammates. Tech is somewhere my family has always called home; I hope to carry on the legacy my dad left here and be the best Oredigger I can be. I look forward to getting to Butte and meeting all the great fans and those who support the Diggers. Roll Diggs."
