BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Western challenged the No. 19 Montana Tech volleyball team early in the match but the Orediggers ran away sweeping the Bulldogs 27-25, 25-14, 25-16.
The Orediggers (16-6, 4-0) kept their conference unbeaten record intact winning their fourth straight match and second by a sweep.
Tech outhit Western 43-32 and finished with a .228 hitting percentage. After eight hitting errors in the first set, the Orediggers had seven in the final two frames.
The Orediggers had eight total blocks to 6.5 by Western.
Maureen Jessop led the offense with 14 kills and a .263 hitting percentage. Jessop also had 12 digs in the match.
Alexis Umland had nine kills and just one error finishing with a .500 hitting percentage. Umland added five blocks to her totals.
Olivia Muir and
Kinnidi Willmore had seven kills each.
McKenna Kaelber had 24 assists on the night.
Montana Tech hits the road this weekend when they travel to Havre to face the MSU-Northern Skylights on Saturday.
