BUTTE, Mont. – No. 23 Montana Tech men's basketball earned their second win of the season downing Warner Pacific 90-69 to finish off the Montana Tech Tip-Off.
The Orediggers (2-0) came out hot in the first half jumping ahead of the Knights with a 14-2 run before the 13-minute mark. Caleb Bellach had six points and Michael Ure added five more getting the Orediggers off to a 18-7 lead.
Tech would go on to lead 53-35 at halftime shooting 40.5% from the field and knocking down 19 of 21 from the free throw line.
The game evened out in the second half but the deficit was far too much for the Knights.
The Orediggers had the advantage in the paint outrebounding the Knights 41-35 and scoring 14-2 on second chance points.
Ure finished with a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Bellach had 20 points had 20 points, 6 boards, and 4 steals.
Bridger Larson had 13 points and 6 rebounds going 5 for 7 from the field and 3 for 3 from the free throw line.
Asa Williams finished with 12 points.
Thomas Miles led the Knights with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Tech heads to Dillon next weekend for the Montana Western Classic. The Orediggers face Eastern Oregon and Dickinson State.
