BUTTE, Mont. – No. 12 Montana Tech opened the Frontier Conference schedule rolling through Rocky Mountain 82-59.
The Orediggers (9-1, 1-0) opened the game with a 10-2 run in the first five minutes. Tech didn't let up running the score to 37-18 at the break.
Tech shot 41.9% from the field in the first half and Rocky shot 28%.
The Orediggers outrebounded the Bears 45-36. Tech committed just four turnovers in the game while snagging 13 steals.
Caleb Bellach led all scorers with 18 points and finished with seven rebounds and four steals.
Michael Ure had 14 points and five rebounds.
Asa Williams and
Hayden Diekhans had 13 points each. Diekhans just missed the double-double finishing with a game-high nine rebounds.
Jesse Owens led the Bears with 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Montana Tech has Montana Western next before taking a break in the conference schedule. The Orediggers travel to Dillon to face the Bulldogs Saturday.
