ESPANOLA, New Mexico – The No. 13 Montana Tech Orediggers opened their holiday break schedule on the road and confidently ran through Northern New Mexico College 99-83.
The Orediggers (10-2, 1-1) won their ninth nonconference game of the season improving to 9-1 against non-Frontier schools.
The Eagles (3-11) made a game of it early overcoming an early Oredigger lead in the first minutes of the game taking a three-point lead 14-11.
Tech tied the game at 14 all on a three-pointer from
Asa Williams with 11:38 left in the half. The Oredigger moved into another gear running past the Eagles the rest of the half. Tech led 58-33 going into halftime. The Orediggers shot 61.8% in the first half while hitting 9 of 16 from beyond the arc.
Tech finished the game hitting 11 of 26 from three-point range in the game. The Orediggers outrebounded the Eagles 35-20.
Caleb Bellach had 15 points in the first half going 3 for 5 from three. Bellach finished with 19 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists.
Bridger Deden 12 of his 14 points in the first half and grabbed three rebounds in the game.
Williams finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Keeley Bake had 13 points and four rebounds.
Michael Ure finished with 10 points.
Guillem Garcia led the Eagles with 20 points and four rebounds. Joe Saterfield had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Montana Tech faces the University of the Southwest Monday.
