MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Tech women's basketball team returned to action taking on the University of Montana in an exhibition game. The Orediggers kept pace with the Division I opponent, but the Griz pulled away in the second quarter winning 87-56.
Tavia Rooney scored 8 points in the first and
Aubrie Rademacher had six. Tech shot 50% in the first quarter leading the Griz 21-20.
The Griz roared back in the second frame outscoring the Orediggers 21-8 and took a 41-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Montana had control for the remainder of the game 50% from the field in the game and outrebounding Tech 44-35.
Rooney led the Orediggers with 15 points and six rebounds. Rooney hit 2 of 3 from long.
Rademacher had 11 points and three rebounds.
Liv Wangerin and
Challis Westwater had six points each.
Libby Stump led the Griz with 14 points and Alex Pirog had a game high nine rebounds.
Montana Tech is in Arizona this week at the Cactus Classic in Phoenix.
