BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech men's basketball team highlighted the long ball and overpowered St. Mary's University-Calgary 98-62 at the backboard getting back to action after 10 days off during the holiday break.
The No. 13 Orediggers (12-2, 1-1) shot 14 of 31 from deep and finished shooting 41.5% in the game. Tech had 52 rebounds over the 41 by the Lightning. The Orediggers had 38 points in the paint and 24 coming off turnovers.
St. Mary's shot 33.8% in the game and had 19 turnovers.
Keeley Bake hit 5 of 7 from beyond the arc finishing with 15 points.
Caleb Bellach had 15 points and four rebounds.
Camdyn LaRance finished with 11 points going 2 for 4 from long and grabbing five rebounds.
Chrishon Dixon had nine points and five boards.
Bridger Larson finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Michael Ure had a team high 11 rebounds.
Caleb Jipp led the Lightning with 19 points and Brock Dewsbery had 18.
Alex Cliché had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Orediggers have their final nonconference game tomorrow against Kayano University at 4 p.m.
