WAXAHACHIE, Tex. – No. 6 SAGU moves on to the next round and the No. 3 Montana Tech's season comes to an end as the Lions defeat the Orediggers 77-63.
SAGU built a first half lead as Tech struggled shooting early. The Lions led 39-27 lead at the break.
The Orediggers went 1 of 12 from three in the first half and shot 32.3% from the field. The Lions shot 50% from the field in the first frame with Nykolas Mason scoring 13 of his 23 in the first half.
The Orediggers narrowed the lead to seven with 10:46 to play in the game, but the Lions didn't let up down the stretch.
Caleb Bellach led the Orediggers with 17 points.
Taylor England had a double-double finishing with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Drew Huse had 15 points and six rebounds. Huse hit a 40' shot to finish the first half.
Sindou Diallo had eight points.
Joel Polius had 16 points and eight rebounds.
Montana Tech finishes the season with a 27-7 overall record.
