Orediggers Stall in Fourth Falling to Bears 60-48

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Tech women's basketball team struggled in the fourth quarter and lost their opportunity for the upset falling to No. 20 Rocky Mountain 60-48. 

The Orediggers (6-11, 2-5) held slim margin at the end of each buzzer except the one that counted. Tech led by three after the first quarter and had 29-28 advantage at halftime. Continuing to keep the Battlin' Bears from finishing a frame with a lead, the Orediggers went into the fourth up 45-44. 

The Bears (14-5, 5-1) scored the first 10 points in the fourth quarter led by Dominique Stephens. Stephens finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. 

Tech had just three points in the final quarter going 1 for 12 from the field. The Orediggers finished shooting 32.7% from the field in the game and went 2 for 18 from three-point range. 

The Bears shot 41.3% from the field.

Tavia Rooney led the Orediggers with 14 points and nine rebounds. 

Dani Urick had 10 points and four rebounds.  Ally Cleverly finished with seven points. 

Soda Rice had seven rebounds and six points. 

Khloie Thatcher led the Bears with 12 points. The senior guard from Butte added three rebounds, four assists, and two steals to her totals. 

The Orediggers have another tough opponent this Saturday when they travel to Helena to face No. 18 Carroll College.
