Orediggers Surge in Third Down Skylights 75-63

HAVRE, Mont. – Montana Tech women's basketball surged in the third quarter to overtake MSU-Northern and win their first conference road game defeating the Skylights 75-63. 

The Orediggers (7-13, 3-7) went 11 for 18 from the field in the third frame and 2 for 4 from long as they outscored the Skylights 27-9. 

Tech came out of the locker room trailing 31-28 at halftime. They opened firing with a 15-4 run in the first five minutes. The trio of Soda Rice, Dani Urick, and Tavia Rooney netted 23 points in the quarter going 9 of 12. 

Tech finished shooting 47.5% in the game and shot 9 of 27 from beyond the arc. Northern shot 44% from the field and hit just 2 of 6 three-point attempts.   

The Orediggers took advantage of 14 Skylight turnovers turning them into 15 points. 

Rice had a season high 19 points to lead the Orediggers. Rice shot 7 for 11 from the field and 3 for 4 from long. She also had three rebounds, two steals, two blocks and two assists. 

Urick and Rooney had 16 points each. Urick hit 3 for 7 from long and Rooney had a team-high five rebounds. 

Rademacher also hit double figures with 12 points going 2 for 5 from three-point range. 

Savannah Toms led the Skylights with 20 points going 6 for 10 in the game and shot 8 of 10 from the free throw line and had eight rebounds. 

Shyan Krass led a productive Skylight bench with 11 points and Briaunna McCullough had 10. 

Ryler Kehr had 10 points.
