Frontier Conference Releases 2023 Preseason Football Coaches Poll

DILLON, Mont. – The Frontier Conference released the preseason football coaches' poll today. Montana Tech was picked second by the league's head coaches.

Last year's regular season co-champion College of Idaho is the preseason favorite to win the Frontier Conference championship. The Yotes received five of the nine total first place votes. The Orediggers received three votes and Carroll College received one. The Saints were the other co-champion last season and appeared alongside the Yotes in the NAIA playoffs.

Montana Western was next in fourth place in overall voting and Rocky Mountain was fifth. Newcomer to the Frontier Conference Arizona Christian was voted sixth for their first time appearing in the Frontier preseason poll.

Montana Tech finished in third last season in the conference standings with a 7-3 overall record. The Orediggers defeated three conference opponents that were ranked or receiving votes last season. Tech went as high as No. 19 in the NAIA Coaches Poll before and missed upsetting an undefeated and No.9 ranked College of Idaho on the road.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. First place was worth eight points, second place worth seven points, third place worth six points, fourth place worth five points, fifth place worth four points, sixth place worth three points, seventh place worth two points and eighth place, one point.
