Day One Results for Oredigger Golf at the Argo Invitational

GREAT FALLS, Mont.- Day one of the Argo Invitational is in the books, and the Oredigger men and women currently sit in second place.

On the women's side Rocky Mountain College shot a day one team score of 302 (+14 to par), the Orediggers find themselves 22 shots back with a score of 324. Carroll College is third with a 349, and the University of Providence wrapped up the opening 18 holes with a team score of 398.

Individually, Rocky golfers went 1-4. Valentina Zuleta shot a +1 73, Kadence Fischer a 74, Grace Metcalf a 77, and Tyla Potgeiter finished with a 78.

Tying Potgeiter for 4th place with a 78 is Montana Tech's Kodie Hoagland. Kodie started on fire, going out with a 34 on the front 9.

The Orediggers ladies all are in the top 10 after the first round.

Franchi Ceartin was next for the Diggs with a +9, 81 good for 7th, Cierra Sundheim sits in 8th with an 82, Emma Woods carded an 83, and Sami Benson matched Emma with an 83 as well, good for 10th.

"Our ladies played really well; we had a couple of hiccups but were able to turn in a solid team score in windy conditions. They really grinded it out. Our scores were consistent so that's a nice thing to see." Montana Tech gold coach Sean Ryan.

On the men's side Rocky Mountain College controlled the top five individual spots. Oredigger Gabe Witham is sitting pretty in 7th place after carding a two-round total of 153 (+9). Joe Opitz and Tyler Avery are tied for 10th place with matching 156's (+12). Joe McGreevey fired a 159 good for 14th, and Jhett Braley carded a 164 which ties him for 16th.

"Our men played pretty solid the first round, but we didn't have it going in the afternoon battling the wind. I think fatigue set in a bit on both the physical and mental side. It was a grind today."

"I like that we didn't give up, I saw some guys struggle early in the second round and finish strong. We'll do better tomorrow, I'm sure of it."
Coach Sean Ryan.

Team scores on the men's side for the second round were not made official at the time of writing this.
