LAUREL, Mont.- The Beartooth Invitational has drawn to a close, with the Oredigger Men finishing in second place, and the Women landing in third.
As a team, the Orediggers put up a 309 in the third round to land firmly in second place overall at 923 (+59). Rocky Mountain ran away with the tournament shooting a combined 879 (+15). Rocky's 'B' team finished in third, followed by Carroll, Providence, and then MSU-Northern.
Individually for Montana Tech
Tyler Avery shot a 73 on his final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at +6. He was two strokes back of Aidan McDonagh from Rocky at +4. The winner of the event was Kristjan Burkelca from Rocky who shot even par today to finish the tournament at -5, the only golfer to finish under par.
Landon Olson finished the event in sixth place after shooting a 72 in round three, to finish at +10.
Carson Hupka hit a total of 230, (+14) to finish one spot behind Olson in seventh.
Then we get to the 'logjam' in ninth place. Four golfers finished at +16 (232), and three of them were Orediggers.
Joe McGreevey,
Joe Opitz, and
Colin Wade. McGreevey shot a 75 today, Wade a 76, and Opitz a 77 to all land at 232 for the tournament.
Rocky won the women's side of the event as well, finishing at 951 (+87) for the 54-hole event. MSU-Billings was second at +134, the Orediggers were not far behind at +148, Carroll was fourth, followed by Rocky's "B", and Providence.
Montana Tech's
Samantha Benson led the event by a stroke after 36 holes at +10 (154). In today's round, she carded an 86 to finish the tournament in a tie for sixth place at +24.
Emma Woods and
Franchi Ceartin finished in a tie for ninth place, both shooting a three-round total of 250 (+34).
Kodie Hoagland finished just outside the top 10, carding a 78 today to finish at 256 (+39)
The Orediggers will be back in action this Sunday – Tuesday at the Carroll College Invitational, played at Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena.
