Box Score GLENDALE, Az.- Montana Tech started their Arizona trip in style, with a 3-1 win over Arizona Christian.
Playing their first of three matches in three days, the Orediggers started hot, racing out to an 11-3 lead in the first set.
Emmy Green getting a pair of aces in that opening stretch, along with a pair of kills by
Kinnidi Willmore. Arizona Christian would never recover, as Montana Tech takes the first 25-14.
The Orediggers would finish the first set with five aces and 10 kills while hitting .286 as a team.
The Firestorm would get their offense rolling in the second set, but it didn't happen immediately. Montana Tech would run out to a 20-10 lead. ACU would then go on a 9-0 run to pull within one point before the Orediggers would get a much-needed side-out. The teams would exchange serves before the Orediggers would throw water on the Firestorms rally to win the second 25-21.
Tech finished the second set hitting .233, while the Firestorm finished with a .121 hitting percentage.
ACU would start the third with momentum, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. That lead would balloon out to 8-2 before the Orediggers would make a run to cut the lead to three. The lead would hover around that three-point line until ACU led 16-13. The Firestorm would never give Tech the lead back, winning the third set 25-22. ACU held the Orediggers to .098 hitting percentage in the third, while the Firestorm hit .222.
The fourth set would see both teams with early runs, but neither team was able to grab momentum. With the score tied 13-all the Orediggers would go on a four-point run grabbing a 17-13 advantage. The four-point gap would hold until Tech was up 21-17. With

Megan Benton would tally her eighth kill of the match to put the Orediggers up 22-17. The Orediggers would exchange points with the Firestorm, and close the match out with a kill by
Kinnidi Willmore.
The Orediggers would finish the match with a .214 hitting percentage, and an incredible nine aces.
Olivia LaBeau and
Kinnidi Willmore both finished with 11 kills in the match, Meghan Benton put down eight, and freshman
Madison Biery hit .700, getting seven kills on 10 attacks. Madison would also be credited with 5 blocks.
Setter
Rhys Layton would finish with 36 assists, and
Jelena Jablanov marked eight digs.
The Firestorm (11-10) were led by Sydney Brown with 11 kills.
Montana Tech (12-6, 5-2 conf.) will take on Embry Riddle University tomorrow night at 7 pm MST.
