PORTLAND, Ore. -- Montana Tech's women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2024-25 season Saturday with a 78-55 win at Multnomah.
Kia Wasson led the Orediggers (1-1) with 18 points in just 16 minutes off the bench. The junior went 4-for-4 from 3-point territory and 6-for-6 from the field in the win.
Three other Montana Tech players finished in double figures, led by
Aubrie Rademacher's 15-point effort.
Brooklynn Hankwitz chipped in 13 points,
Liv Wangerin added 11, and
Hadley Humphreys led the Diggers on the boards with 14. Wasson added three assists and three rebounds to her tally.
Montana Tech fell behind early but took the lead on Humphreys' jumper with 6:57 left in the first, and Tech never trailed again. The Diggers broke the game open with a 7-0 run in the second period.
Wasson scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half to help the Orediggers maintain the lead.
Makayla Torkornoo led the way for the Lions with 18 points.
Tech will return to exhibition play Sunday with a game against NCAA Division I member Portland State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. MST.
