BUTTE, Mont. -- The fifth-ranked Montana Tech men's basketball team stayed unbeaten Friday night with a resounding 103-52 win over UMaine-Fort Kent on Kelvin Sampson Court.
Senior
Keeley Bake led the Orediggers in scoring with 20.
Ifeanyi Okeke added 19 points and nine rebounds for Tech, and
Brayden Koch scored 16.
Montana Tech (9-0) wasted no time getting out front. Okeke's layup off the opening tip sparked an 11-0 run as the Orediggers earned the wire-to-wire win. The Bengals held serve in the ensuing minutes until Tech uncorked another run, this one of the 11-0 variety, midway through the first half that swelled the lead to 20.
That lead grew to as many as 29 in the first half before Tech entered the break with a 50-22 lead. Bake and Okeke each reached double figures before the half was up.
In the second, Tech's onslaught continued. Koch scored a team-best nine points in the second stanza, going 4-for-5 from the field, and the Orediggers continued to tack onto the lead behind a whopping 13 offensive rebounds in the half. Tech had 18 second-chance points in the game.
Montana Tech will continue its journey through the non-conference schedule Friday when King's (Alberta) pays a visit to Butte. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
