HELENA, Mont. -- Cade VanVleet continued to raise the bar in the Montana Tech men's indoor track & field record book last week, earning himself the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor in the process. The conference office announced its first slate of weekly awards for the 2024-25 indoor season Tuesday afternoon.
VanVleet, a junior from Noxon, had a banner day at Montana State's Bobcat PReview meet in Bozeman last Thursday, setting an NAIA 'A' qualifying standard in the shot put with his program-record 16.66-meter heave. That placed him fifth at the meet.
He also took sixth in the weight throw with a 16.61m toss, which was less than a third of a meter from his own program-record mark.
The Orediggers swept the league's indoor field athlete weekly honors Tuesday as Jadyn Vermillion claimed the women's recognition.
Montana Tech's track & field teams will break for the holidays before returning to indoor competition January 16 at Idaho State University's Snake River Open.
