Oredigger women win the Argo Sizzler by a Stroke

SHELBY, Mont.- The Oredigger women have won the Argo Sizzler by a stroke, while the men take second place.

After shooting a school record 307 yesterday, the ladies put up a 318 today to finish the tournament at +19 as a team, one stroke better than Rocky Mountain College. Carroll College finished third at +80, followed by Providence at +169.

Kodie Hoagland finished the tournament in second place after being tied for the lead following the opening 18 holes. The Junior from the Mining City fired a second-round 79 to finish at +9 three strokes clear of teammate Emma Woods who sits alone in third place. Emma is one of the few golfers who either matched / or bettered their score from yesterday, shooting a 78 on both days.

Also landing high on the leaderboard for the Orediggers was Sami Benson who finished tied for fourth at +13, Casha Corder carded a +15 to finish in eighth, and Annika Brocklebank (playing as an individual) ended the tournament in ninth at +17.

Franchi Ceartin landed in a three-way tie for 13th finishing at +22. Samantha Moore (individual) shot a combined +26 to finish in 17th, and Hayden Pride (individual) rounds out the Oredigger scorecards in 25th at +36.

The only female golfer who shot under par today was Kadence Fischer from Rocky Mountain College, who put up a 70 (in addition to a 76 yesterday) to win the tournament at +2 (146).

The Oredigger men, coming off a great day one- shooting an opening round 300 followed by a 293 in the second round- hit a 300 today to finish at +29 for the tournament. Rocky Mountain College won the event at +12, Carroll was third at +74, and Providence was fourth at +121.

Montana Tech was paced by Tyler Avery who finished in fourth place, shooting 219 (+3). A pair of Orediggers finished tied for sixth place, Gabe Witham and Christian Lund (individual), both shooting 225 (+9).

Colin Wade shot 221 (+11) to finish in a tie for ninth, and Joe Opitz and Landon Olson (individual) each hit 222 to finish tied for 12th at +12. Joe McGreevey and Carson Hupka (individual) tied for 16th at +18.

The Oredigger golf teams will head to Laurel next week for the Beartooth Invitational, September 29-October 1.
