MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Montana Tech track & field program enjoyed another record-breaking day at University of Idaho's Lauren McCluskey Memorial, topping a pair of program-bests Saturday on the second day of the meet.
The men's 4x400 meter relay of
Adam Schrader,
Morgan McClernan,
Will Wagner, and
Matthew Moreni shattered the Orediggers' previous mark with a 3:20.07 race. That time bested the previous top mark by nearly seven seconds. The relay finished fourth in the race.
Zach Merrifield also knocked off the 60m dash record, racing a 6.98-second sprint in the preliminary heats. He tacked onto that with a 7.02-second performance in finals to place sixth in the event.
McClernan also reached finals in an event, racing the 60m hurdles in 8.51 seconds in prelims to reach finals. He took fifth in the championship heat at 8.90 seconds.
Cade VanVleet recorded another good day in throws for the Tech men, heaving the shot 16.02m to take sixth place in the event.
For the women,
Kamryn Comba set the pace with an NAIA 'B' standard in the 600m run. The junior raced to fourth in the event with a time of 1:36.25.
MaKenzie Sheils also logged a top-10 finish, taking ninth in 1:41.68.
Olleca Severson also highlight the Oredigger women's day, clocking in at 9.18 in the 60m hurdles to place seventh in the event.
The Montana Tech track & field teams will continue the 2024-25 indoor season this coming Friday, January 31 at Montana State in Bozeman.
