Box Score BISMARCK, N.D. -- Madison Biery and Kinnidi Willmore spiked nine kills each, Kennedy Oman added eight, and the Montana Tech volleyball team cruised to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-21 sweep of Bismarck State Saturday afternoon.
Tech, which has won three of its last four road matches, used hot hitting to take an early lead, attacking at a .500 clip in the opening set. In the second, the Orediggers (13-9, 9-7 Frontier) used five aces and hit .500 again to put the Mystics on the brink.
The third set was a different story. Neither team could get a foothold in the clincher, as the teams were tied at 10 of the first 18 points. A Piper Jette kill and an Austin Long ace got Montana Tech the momentum, and the Orediggers polished off the sweep with a 7-3 run.
Biery hit a season-best .643 in the victory, and Oman hit .500, also the most efficient mark of her campaign. Brooklynn Hayes collected 14 digs, and Rhys Layton and Ellie Reinertson combined for 35 assists.
Chelsea Krom led the Mystics (4-17, 2-14) with 10 kills.
The Orediggers will return home to continue Frontier Conference play next week as No. 7 Bellevue visits Valley Bank Arena Wednesday and No. 24 Dakota State comes to town Thursday.
