HELENA -- Jarrett Wilson did a little bit of everything for the No. 5-ranked Montana Tech football team in Saturday's 49-21 victory over Dakota State.
The Orediggers' quarterback threw three touchdown passes, and he also notched his first-career rushing and receiving touchdowns. That was plenty to earn the sophomore the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference offensive player of the week award, the league office announced Monday.
Wilson, a Polson product, completed 25 of 35 pass attempts for a career-high 335 yards in the win. He also rushed five times for 29 yards and a score and caught a five-yard touchdown pass in the winning effort.
The dominant day began on Montana Tech's second drive of the game, when Wilson found Levi Torgerson behind the Trojan defense for a 62-yard touchdown pass. Two possessions later, Wilson hit Nick Michelotti for a 65-yard strike that made it 21-0 Tech. Just before halftime, Wilson made a leaping grab in the end zone on a Torgerson pass for a five-yard touchdown, the first receiving TD of Wilson's career.
Wilson then added a pair more scores in the second half of the rout, cashing in on a seven-yard run in the third quarter and finding Wykece Johnson for a six-yard TD in the fourth.
The victory pushed Montana Tech to 6-0 for the first time in the program's history.
It's the first-career weekly accolade for Wilson and the Tech football program's ninth of the campaign.
The Orediggers will put their perfect record on the line Saturday on the road with a noon kickoff at MSU-Northern.
