HELENA, Mont. -- For the first time since 2015, Montana Tech's women's basketball team proved victorious in Helena.

The Orediggers laid to waste a 17-game losing streak at archrival Carroll College, topping the 19th-ranked Saints, 59-57, Saturday afternoon.

Brooke Badovinac led Montana Tech (17-9, 8-5 Frontier Conference) with 13 points off the bench, and Aubrie Rademacher added 12 points and four rebounds for the Diggers.

Carroll (17-9, 9-4) took the early lead and hung onto it for most of the first quarter. A Badovinac 3-pointer gave Tech its first lead of the game, 17-16, with 1:11 left to play in the first. After Carroll tied the game, Kia Wasson rattled home a jumper as the buzzer sounded to give the Diggers a 21-19 lead headed into the second.

Badovinac took over in the second, scoring eight of the Orediggers' 16 points to help Tech maintain the lead. Montana Tech took a 37-33 lead into halftime.

Carroll stuck around in the third, eventually taking a narrow lead on a Kyndall Keller bucket with just over a minute left in the period. The Saints held a 50-48 advantage with 10 minutes to play, but Tech had the answer. The Orediggers retook the lead for good on a pair of Hallie Neibauer free throws with 5:33 left in the game. The Diggers held Carroll to just three points in the remainder of the game to seal the victory.

It was Montana Tech's first win in Carroll's PE Center since March 3, 2015, when the Orediggers topped the Saints in the quarterfinals of the Frontier playoffs.

Tech will return home for its final two games of the 2024-25 regular season, playing host to Montana Western at 7 p.m. Thursday and No. 25-ranked Providence at 2 p.m. Saturday, when the Diggers will celebrate Senior Day.
