HELENA -- Levi Torgerson couldn't be stopped on special teams in the No. 11-ranked Montana Tech football team's 38-27 win over No. 5 Montana Western Thursday, scoring on a kick return and a punt return in the Orediggers' victory.
Monday, the Frontier Conference honored Torgerson as its Erck Hotes/Frontier Conference special teams player of the week.
Torgerson, a senior from Great Falls, took the opening kickoff of the 2025 season from end zone to end zone for a 100-yard touchdown that set the tone for the Oredigger victory. Later in the first quarter, he brought a punt back 91 yards for another score.
The wide receiver also made his mark on offense, tossing a 13-yard touchdown pass just before halftime and catching three passes for 39 yards.
It is Torgerson's third-career Frontier special teams player of the week award.
The Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference player of the week awards are nominated and voted on by the league's athletic communications professionals. Southern Oregon wide receiver Brandon Barthel won the offensive weekly award, while Dickinson State defensive back Jack Hartman won the honor on defense.
Torgerson also earned the Walter Camp Football Foundation/Division 1 Rejects Podcast NAIA special teams player of the week award, the organizations announced Monday.
Montana Tech's football team will stay in rivalry mode this week, heading to Helena for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Carroll College on Saturday.
