HELENA -- For the second-straight week, the Frontier Conference named Montana Tech running back
Wykece Johnson its Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference offensive football player of the week.
The conference office announced the awards Monday afternoon, and the Orediggers took a clean sweep of them. Along with Johnson's offensive honor, defensive back
Justin Webber won the honor on defense, and defensive back
Jace Thompson was the special teams honoree.
Johnson again powered the offense for the No. 7-ranked team in the NAIA, rushing 27 times for 139 yards and a touchdown in the Orediggers' 34-23 win over Rocky Mountain on Saturday. The graduate transfer from Lexington, Miss. leads the NAIA in rushing yards (484) and carries (85) through three games this season.
He and Montana Tech (3-0) will head to No. 24 Southern Oregon Saturday as they look to stay unbeaten in 2025. The teams will kick off at noon Pacific time, 1 p.m. Mountain.
The Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference player of the week awards are nominated and voted upon by the league's athletic communications professionals.
