VALLEY CITY, N.D. -- Talan Dodson and
Kinnidi Willmore combined for 39 kills Saturday as the 21st-ranked Montana Tech volleyball team stayed perfect in Frontier Conference play with a 24-26, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 15-12 victory at Valley City State.
The Oredigger block was on all afternoon, too, as
Madison Biery collected seven blocks,
Sophie Madsen added four, and
Kennedy Oman chipped in three.
Rhys Layton facilitated the Montana Tech attack with 37 aces, while
Emmy Green anchored the back row with 23 digs.
After dropping a close first set, Tech hit .419 in the second set with just three attack errors to even the match. VCSU took the momentum back in the third before the Orediggers rebounded to tie the match behind five fourth-set kills from both Willmore and Dodson.
In the fifth, Valley City State jumped out to a 5-2 lead to force a Tech timeout. The Orediggers won the next three points to tie the set and then finished on a 7-2 run to clinch the match.
The victory polished off a 2-0 roadtrip to start the conference season for the Orediggers to set up Wednesday's home matchup against Montana Western.
