MOSCOW, Idaho -- Montana Tech's indoor track & field teams made another statement Saturday as they wrapped up the Lauren McCluskey Memorial at University of Idaho.
Senior
Jadyn Vermillion continued her dominance in the women's long jump, winning the event with a 5.94-meter leap. That mark was the third-longest by an NAIA student-athlete this season, trailing only her nation-leading mark of 6.08m from September and Rosjai Curtis' 5.99m for Park last month.
Teammate
Ayla Janzen had a good day on the track, qualifying for the eight-woman final in the women's 60m hurdles and placing seventh in the championship race at 9.20 seconds, her second-fastest time of the season in the event.
Senior
Morgan McClernan led the way for the Tech men, reaching finals in the 60m hurdles and racing to fourth. His 8.36-second race was just .05 seconds off his own program record in the event. McClernan was also 13th in the 400m dash (50.95).
Sophomore
Matthew Moreni took eighth in the 400m, clocking in at 49.96. It was his second sub-50 second race at the distance in the past two weeks; he is the only Oredigger in program history to break that mark.
Graduate student
Justin Morgan moved up to third on the program's all-time list with his 4:23.82 1-mile. That time placed him 12th in the race and bumped the two-time cross country All-American to 64th on the NAIA's season leaderboard.
Montana Tech won't have to leave the Treasure State next week for competition. The Orediggers will play host to the first of two indoor meets Friday at 6 p.m. inside the new Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman.
