HELENA -- Almost a year to the date of
Casey Kautzman's first Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference special teams player of the week award, the Montana Tech football team's kicker/punter earned it again.
Kautzman, a senior from Butte, landed the weekly award after a perfect placekicking effort in No. 5 Montana Tech's 62-0 Homecoming win over MSU-Northern on Saturday. The transfer from Montana State, now in his second season back in Butte, knocked through field goals of 27 and 33 yards and went 8-for-8 on point-after-touchdown kicks in the victory.
He also punted thrice for an average of 37.3 yards, forcing one fair catch and putting one inside the Lights' 20-yard line.
A first-team All-Frontier Conference East Division honoree a season ago, Kautzman currently leads the NAIA with 62 kicking points so far this season. His 10 made field goals rank tied for second in the country.
The weekly award is the second of Kautzman's career; he won it October 13, 2025, also after an Oredigger win over MSU-Northern.
Simpson quarterback Ya'J Vance won the offensive award for his game-winning touchdown at Southern Oregon, while Dickinson State's Brody Jenness won the defensive weekly honor.
Montana Tech's football team, boasting a 6-1 record, moved up one spot to No. 5 in Monday's NAIA coaches' top 25. The Orediggers will be off this week before returning to Frontier East action next Saturday, October 24 at Mayville State.
