BUTTE -- Montana Tech athletics and the Butte Civic Center will play host to the 2026 Frontier Conference men's and women's basketball championships, presented by First Interstate Bank, Friday through Monday.
The top eight teams in both the women's and men's Frontier standings qualified for the postseason.
Montana Tech's women, currently ranked 17th in the NAIA coaches' top 25 poll, enters the playoffs with a 22-4 overall record and an 18-4 mark in conference play. The Orediggers are the No. 2 seed in the tournament and square off with seventh-seeded Providence Friday at 2:30 p.m. on the civic center floor. Tech won its final six games of the regular season.
The fifth-seeded Oredigger men, with their 21-7 record and a 15-7 mark in the league, will begin their quest for a fifth-consecutive Frontier tournament title Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 4-seed Montana Western. Montana Tech enters the postseason riding a three-game win streak.
Both teams qualified for the NAIA national tournament in 2025 and can cement their championship berths with Frontier titles next Monday evening. Both the Frontier regular-season and tournament champions earn automatic bids to the NAIA tourney.
