GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Even with his running career for Montana Tech over months ago, Justin Morgan continues to make Oredigger history.

The graduate student became the men's cross country and track & field program's first-ever Academic All-American, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday morning with its full list of 2025-26 honors. He was one of just 10 NAIA student-athletes to earn a first-team nod.

Morgan, a graduate student from Thompson Falls, became the program's first-ever Frontier Conference cross country champion in November and carried that momentum into the NAIA national meet, where he finished 13th to land his second-career All-America accolade.

It was his second-career All-America nod; he finished 33rd at the national cross country meet in 2023. Morgan was also a national qualifier in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase that year and holds the program record in the event (9:30.55). He was twice an All-Frontier Conference performer on the track as well.

Morgan was a star in the classroom as well. He graduated as Montana Tech's valedictorian in electrical engineering last spring with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (along with mathematics and statistics minors) and maintained that 4.0 through his master's degree studies this past academic year. He presented research at the Techxpo Design Showcase in both 2025 (SEL Lighting Display) and 2026 (Dynamic Modeling of Invert-based Resources).

Morgan is just the 10th-ever Montana Tech student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors and the fifth this year, joining four football standouts who earned the award in January. He was one of only two Frontier Conference student-athletes on the men's cross country/track & field first team.

Student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore or better standing, and rank in the top 25 of her conference in an event to be eligible. After CSC announces the Academic All-District teams, membership selects the Academic All-America honorees.

College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), is a 4,400-member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. Established in 1952 and selected by CSC membership, the Academic All-America program is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports.

The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure. For more information about CSC's Academic All-District and Academic All-America program, visit AcademicAllAmerica.com
