HELENA -- Montana Tech linebacker
Kellan Beller landed the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference defensive player of the week award, the Frontier office announced Monday.
Beller, a senior from Stevensville, made a team-best eight tackles and intercepted a pass in the Orediggers' 34-7 victory over then-No. 18 Montana Western Saturday in Dillon.
It was the fewest points the Montana Tech defense has allowed the Bulldogs since the 2012 season.
Beller becomes the third Oredigger defender in as many weeks to win the weekly award. Fellow linebacker
Asher Feddes claimed the honor two weeks ago, while cornerback
Christian Hansen was both the Frontier's and NAIA's winner of the award last week.
It's the first Frontier Conference weekly award in Beller's career.
The senior currently leads the Oredigger D with 18 tackles this season, and the interception was the third of his career.
Beller and the Montana Tech football team, now ranked third in the NAIA's coaches' poll, will return home to play host to Southern Oregon this Saturday at 1 p.m.
