BUTTE -- Derek Schultz set the pace with a top-10 finish as the Montana Tech men's cross country team raced to third at the Butte Invitational Thursday at Highland View Golf Course.
The senior finished the 8-kilometer course in 27:50.1 to finish ninth in the race.
The Orediggers landed four more in the top 20 — sophomores Tyler Inabnit (16th) and Layne Niemeye0r (17th), junior Bryon Fanning (18th), and sophomore Noah Miller (20th) — while sophomore Michael Marlow finished not far behind in 21st.
Montana Tech's men finished third in the team standings with 75 points, trailing second-place MSU-Billings for second by just 11 points. Rocky Mountain won the meet with just 19 points.
The Oredigger men will take next week off before heading to Billings on October 9 for Rocky Mountain College's Frontier Conference Preview at Amend Park.
