Prior to coming to the Mining City, Goggans was a linebacker and defensive end at Lindenwood University-Belleville in Belleville, Illinois. While at Lindenwood, he was a part of the inaugural football class in 2012 playing under Coach Jeff Fisher from 2012-2014 and Dale Carlson in 2015.

Prior to Lindenwood, Goggans played at Fullerton College from 2010-2011 for Head Coach Tim Byrnes. While at Fullerton, the defense ranked in the top three in the California Community Colleges in Total Defense.

Goggans graduated from Lindenwood University in May 2016 with a B.A. in Psychology and History. A native of Pine Grove, California, an hour East of Sacramento, Goggans graduated from Amador High School in Sutter Creek, Calif.
