Lady 'Diggers Win Opener

Box Score Butte – The Lady 'Diggers came out swinging and put down the Dickinson State Blue Hawks 60-44.

Senior Brianne McClafferty led Tech in scoring with 11 points. McClafferty was 3 for 6 from three point range and added 3 rebounds.

Tech opened the game with a 9-0 run. They were able to keep that gap for most of the first half, but Dickinson came on as Tech cooled off and brought the score to 26-21 at the break.

As the second half opened, the 'Diggers opened with another strong start. Going on a 10-4 run, they stayed hot for the rest of the game shooting 55% from the field as a team. They were strong around the basket and out rebounded the Blue Hawks 46 to 30 with 19 offensive boards.

Sophomore Kelsey DeWit had a strong game under the basket. DeWit had 9 rebounds, 6 of them were offensive. She added 9 points and 2 blocks as well.

A sign of things to come, true freshman Mandy Machinal also had 11 points. Playing in her first game with the Orediggers, she added three steals as well.  

The Lady 'Diggers are on the road next week in Dillon as they take on the UM-Western Bulldogs on November 1st.
