LaGrande, Oregon – The Orediggers got their revenge against the Mountaineers. Tech came out swinging and held a late Eastern Oregon charge at bay winning 28-20.
Eastern scored a touchdown with less than two minutes left to bring the score to 28-20. After bobbling the snap on the point after, they failed the try.
The Mountaineers capitalized on the onside kick and retained offensive possession with less than a minute to play in the game. Montana Tech held Eastern from picking up any yards on the drive to seal the win.
Montana Tech (6-1) wins their sixth straight. This is the first defeat of Eastern Oregon since 2009.
Running back
Pat Hansen didn't mind doing the heavy lifting in the game. He carried the ball 35 times for 151 yards and a touchdown. He caught six passes for 55 yards.
Junior quarterback
Nick Baker turned in a solid performance as well. Baker completed 38 of 48 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns.
Senior wide receiver
Trent Thomas caught 11 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Junior transfer
Kevin Moss returned to action with a big game. He caught 7 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.
The Oredigger defense was dominant in the first half. They picked up three sacks and three interceptions on the day while only giving up 43 yards on the ground and 250 yards of total offense to the Mountaineers.
Senior safety Nate Koblod led the defense with seven tackles.
Ketwaun Frank had 3.5 tackles and an interception.
Montana Tech is home next weekend when they host MSU-Northern at 1 PM Saturday afternoon.
