Lady Diggers Lose Close One to Northern

Box Score Butte-The Lady Diggers fell to the Northern Lights in the final seconds at Kelvin Sampson Court 42-41.

Montana Tech drops to 4-7 in the Frontier Conference. Northern moves up to .500 at 5-5.

In the first half, the Lights jumped out first holding a 17-6 lead with 11:09 to play. Tech fought back and went on a 13-2 run over the next ten minutes to tie the score at 19-all. The Lights would take a 21-20 lead into half time.

Tech had control of the first twelve minutes of the second half when Northern would tie the game at 33 apiece.  As the 'Diggers scoring stalled, Northern would go on a 8-0 run to lead 38-33 with 5:23 to play.

Senior Tabitha Tomlinson would hit a three-pointer with 41 tics on the clock to pull within on at 42-41.

On the next Northern possession, 'Digger defense would force a Northern shot as the shot clock ran out with Tech picking up the rebound. Tomlinson would take the ball down to Tech's end of the court only to lose it on a double dribble with two seconds to go in the game.

Northern would lose possession on a five second violation giving the ball back to Tech. On the inbounds, Kelsey DeWit would bobble the basketball under the hoop as time ran out.

The Lady Diggers are on the road next. They travel to Helena to take on the Carroll College Fighting Saints on February 23rd.
