Saints Power Past Lady Diggers

Butte, Mont. – The Lady Diggers struggled in the second half falling to Carroll College 62-52 at Kelvin Sampson Court.

Montana Tech (11-9, 4-4) loses their second contest to the Saints this year.

Carroll College (13-6, 7-1) wins their second straight game after losing to top-ranked Westminster.

The Lady Diggers started off slow with the Saints sinking the first nine points on the night. Tech would fight back to a 32-28 deficit at the break.

Poor shooting by the Diggers in the second half allowed Carroll to power ahead for the victory. Tech shot 29.6-percent in the second half and went 2 of 13 from beyond the arc in the game.

The Saints outrebounded the Diggers 39-31 in the game.

Dannii Devenny led the Diggers with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals. She hit 8 of 14 from the field and the only three pointers for Tech going 2 of 3.

Kelsey DeWit and Brooke Pokorny each chipped in 14 points. DeWit also had six rebounds and a block.

Pokorny's 14 points was a season high for the junior. She had three assists and a steal in a solid effort.

Torrie Cahill was hot for the Saints netting 27. She added eight rebounds and two assists.

Montana Tech is on the road to Frontier newcomer Dickinson State next Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m. in North Dakota.
