Montana Western (11-4, 1-1) picks up their first conference win and fourth victory in a row.
The Bulldogs set the tone and charged to a 44-24 lead at the break. The team hit 54.3-percent from the field in the half.
Jake Owsley shot 5 of 6 for 11 points and five rebounds in the half. Maazin Butler had 10 points on 4 of 7 shooting.
Shooting just 34.6-percent as a team, Tech had trouble connecting at the hoop.
Brandon Rydberg had 8 points and three rebounds in the half.
Tech slowly chipped away at the Western lead in the second half hitting four three-pointers in a row on a 14-point run trailing 65-59 with 4:41 to go in the game.
Western would start stalling the rest of the game. They expanded their lead back to ten before Tech came within four points 75-71 with 0:29 second left in the game. Having to foul, Tech would send Western to the line the rest of their possessions.
Bryan Bock would make a final three for the Orediggers, but it couldn't make up the difference.
The Diggers would end up hitting 10 of 20 from beyond the arc in the second half and hit 43.3-percent in the game.
The Bulldogs finished the game hitting 49.2-percent from the field.
Western out rebounded the Diggers 45-31 in the game.
Adam Greger led the Diggers with 18 points. He added two rebounds and four assists to his totals.
Brandon Rydberg and
Bryan Bock each had 11 points in the game. Rydberg also had seven rebounds.
Western had five players in double-digits.
Owsley led Western with 15 points.
Tech is home again Saturday night when they host Westminster.
