ASHLAND, Ore. – The Southern Oregon offense just kept firing as the Raiders flew past Montana Tech 59-32.
The Orediggers (1-4) is still looking for their second win of the season after losing four straight.
After a slow start, Southern Oregon (3-2) has won their last three contests.
The Raiders opened the game with 17 unanswered points before Tech got on the board with a 27-yard touchdown pass from
Herman Tapley to
Alec Bray. It would be the only score of the half for Tech as Southern Oregon continued their aerial assault crossing the goal line with two more scores through the air. The Raider led 31-7 at the half.
The Orediggers opened the second half with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal from
Matt Berg. Freshman running back Nolan Saracini scored his first career touchdown from 13 yards out and Tapley connected with Zach Kinney for a 50-yard score. Southern Oregon fumbled the kickoff after the Kinney touchdown that set up Berg's field goal. Tech would trail just 31-24.
The explosive Raider offense caught fire once again scoring four straight touchdowns to put the game out of reach.
James Roberts ended the game with a touchdown reception from Tapley.
Austin Dodge set a school record passing for eight touchdowns in the game. Dodge completed 39 of 57 for 559 yards.
Brothers Matt and Ryan Retzlaff caught 19 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns each.
Tapley completed 27 of 69 for 383 yards and three touchdowns.
Senior Zach Kinney caught 11 passes for 192 yards and one score.
Alec Bray caught four passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Pat Hansen went out of the game in the first half paving the way for
Taylor Rowe in the Tech running game. Rowe carried the ball 14 times for 124 yards.
Montana Tech is on bye next week. The Orediggers host Dickinson State on October 19
th on Bob Green Field at Alumni Coliseum.
