Diggers Fall to Black Hills 83-78

BUTTE – It was a milestone night for junior Adam Greger and Black Hills State did everything they could to stop him. While Greger reached the career mark, the Yellow Jackets foiled the Orediggers 86-78.

Greger scored 15 of his 24 points in the first fifteen minutes of the game. Black Hills State (1-0) turned up the pressure on the leading scorer getting the first win of their young season. But Greger still achieved the 1,000 point club at the 10:48 mark in the second half. He finished the game with 1,003 career points.

The Orediggers (4-2) are still off to their best start in over a decade.

Both teams shot the lights out in the first half. The Yellow Jackets hit 66.7-percent from the field and 9 of 13 from three point. The Orediggers also hit 66.7-percent from the field and went 6 of 9 from long. The Yellow Jackets led 54-48 going into the break.

The scoring settled down in the second frame, more so for the Diggers. Tech shot 32.4 from the field and hit just 3 of 15 from beyond the arc.

Greger had seven rebounds in addition to his 24 points.

Brandon Rydberg scored 21 in the game going 4 of 5 from three and 7 of 9 from the line.

Travis Peevey had 11 point and three rebounds.
