HAVRE- The Montana Tech Orediggers defeated MSU-Northern 32-31 on a last second Hail Mary from quarterback

Zack Kinney with no time left on the clock.
Northern's Zach McKinley got the Lights on the scoreboard first with a one yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Pat Hansen answered for Montana Tech early in the second quarter squaring the game up 7-7.
The Lights scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take the lead 21-7. The first touchdown was a McKinley 14 yard run. The second was a 29 yard Travis Dean pass to Jake Messerly to cap off an 80 yard drive.
The Orediggers would get the ball back with 34 seconds left and march down the field for a
Matt Berg 28 yard field goal as time expired making the score 21-10.
In the third quarter Orin Johnson scored on a QB keeper to make the score 28-10.
Matt Berg would cut the deficit to 28-13 with a 38 yard field goal near the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter Montana Tech's
James Roberts caught a 16 yard touchdown to make it 28-20.
A Jordan Rueschhoff field goal from 31 yards out would give Northern the lead 31-20 with four minutes left to play.
James Roberts would catch his second touchdown pass for the Orediggers on a broken play with 2:20 left in the game, when the ball got batted into his hands on a jump ball making the score 26-31.
Montana Tech would get the ball back with 1:02 left, after a strong defensive stand.
On the final drive,
Herman Tapley found
Zack Kinney two times and got the ball down to the 36 yard line with 13 seconds left. An incomplete pass with one second on the clock would give the Orediggers one final shot at the endzone.
On the final play
Herman Tapley aired the ball out on a Hail Mary and found
Zack Kinney as time expired to give the Diggers the win 32-31.
Montana Tech finished the contest with 536 yards while running 91 offensive plays.
Zack Kinney finished the game with 12 receptions for 143 yards and the game winning touchdown.
Running back
Pat Hansen would finish the game with 28 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback
Herman Tapley passed for 364 yards, 3 touchdowns and completed 29 of his 51 pass attempts.
Joe Mitzel led the Diggers with 10 total tackles, and
Caleb Vance intercepted a pass for the Montana Tech defense.
Montana Tech improves to 3-5 while MSU-Northern drops to 4-5.
The Orediggers take on Montana Western at 4:30pm next Saturday night in Dillon.
