Big Second Half Seals Win

BUTTE – The Lady Diggers exploded in the second half to overcome Dickinson State 61-54 in the final home game of the regular season.

Montana Tech (16-10, 9-5) wins their third straight game. The Lady Diggers are sitting two games ahead of MSU-Northern in the conference standings.

Dickinson State (7-19, 2-10) loses their second straight game on their long weekend road trip.

The Lady Diggers were down 40-34 with ten minutes left in the contest when a scoring barrage of 19 straight points overtook the Blue Hawks.

Senior Shaye Murphy hit back-to-back threes to tie the game up followed by a Lisa Laslovich three-pointer. The rest was history as Dickinson couldn't catch the Diggers.

As a team, Tech would finish shooting 40-percent from the field and 38.9-percent from beyond the arc.

Mandy Machinal had 16 of her 22 points in the first half. She had seven rebounds, three assists and a steal as well.

All of Murphy's 11 points came in the 19-point run in the second half. She also had seven rebounds and a steal.

Dannii Devenny had 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Senior Erika Jenkins had 11 rebounds and five points.

The other senior on the squad was Ivana Lacmanovic. The Serbian had four points, three rebounds and three assists on senior night.

Janae Moore was the only Blue Hawk to get double-digit scoring netting 15 and grabbing 11 boards in a double-double.

Montana Tech takes to the road next weekend for the final two regular season games. The Lady Diggers face UM-Western Thursday in Dillon.
