Orediggers Lose Heart-breaker in Dillon


Dillon, MT-- Montana Tech lost a tough one against the Western Bulldogs 94-91 in double overtime.

The Orediggers rolled on offense in the first half shooting 48 percent from the field and taking a 41-36 halftime advantage over the Bulldogs.

Bryan Bock knocked down three triples and led Tech with 13 points in the first half.

"It was a great game and we played our best game of the season. Bock had a great game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists", said Coach O'Herron, "It's a tough loss but we need to let it go and focus our attention on Saturday's game against Westminster."

A back and forth second half left the Orediggers up by two points with less than a minute to play. Maazin Butler hit a teardrop bucket to force overtime as time expired. Butler finished the game with 23 points for the Bulldogs.

In the second overtime Western pulled ahead by three late after a Zach Smith free throw. A desperation shot from half court was off the mark and the Bulldogs escaped with a 94-91 victory.

Adam Greger scored 19 points, 15 of which came in the second half, and went 9-10 from the free throw line. JC transfer Antonio Snow scored 19 points in his Oredigger debut.

Jake Owsley notched a team high 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Western.

The Orediggers drop to 0-2 in the Frontier Conference and 7-6 overall, and Montana Western improves to 1-1 in conference and 8-5 overall.

Montana Tech hits the road to take on Westminster in Salt Lake City this Saturday night. The game tips off at 7:30 pm M.S.T.
